Hiwa Foundation operates in a region that has been subject to a great deal of turmoil, socially, economically and politically. In this context, we believe that in times of austerity and uncertainty, it becomes even more important that art and culture are areas of investment. It is now more important than ever to create and nourish platforms of expression, which develop and explore narratives that are able to tackle these external circumstances. Artistic platforms serve as a tool to counteract the dangers of extremism. They also help young people to explore new identities and narrate their own experiences.
