KU: Malala’s Girl Power Trip

This is the translated verions….. When Nobel Peace Prize winner and women’s rights activist Malala visited Erbil, Kurdistan, as part of her #GirlPowerTrip, Hiwa Foundation attended her 20th birthday celebrations.

Back in 2015, Hiwa Foundation obtained the rights to translate I am Malala into the Kurdish language. Our co-founder and director, Nian Abdualla was delighted to meet Malala, after reading her book and seeing the importance of Kurdish youth being able to read it and learn from Malala’s story. Malala’s father, Ziauddin Yousafzai was very pleased to receive a Kurdish translation of his daughter’s book. Hiwa Foundation shares Malala’s passion and commitment to gender equality in education, and is proud to have been able to help in bringing her message to the young people of Kurdistan.
