Gender and Media Workshop
Gender inequality and social and political oppression are reflected in how we use language. Every day, we encounter biased language that stems from identity and gender discrimination. Media agencies and journalists play a vital role in addressing this issue and raising awareness among the public.
As part of the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence, Hiwa Foundation collaborated with the Gender Media Organization and organized a four-day gender in media course from November 25 to 28, 2017. It was designed specifically for women working in the media. Participants came from various media institutions, including KNN TV, NRT TV, BMC TV, Women’s Union Media, Zhyanawa newspaper, Rewan website, Work institute, and Roj News Agency. Representatives of the international community also joined.
