Supporting people with disabilities

in country that has seen multiple wars in the last half a century the rate of people with physical disabilities is quite high. And yet hardly any special provision has been taken to make life easier for the people afflicted in the construction of roads and public buildings. In this region the disabled usually are also financially disadvantaged because they struggle to find jobs and provide for themselves. The state income that they receive, if any, is very low. This and other factors lead to people not having access to the basic necessities, like wheelchairs and prosthesis. Hiwa Foundation works together with the Disabled People Union to improve the living conditions of people with special physical needs, especially children and youth. We have organized wheelchairs, school equipment and other necessities.
