Nazira Haris, Towards a Life of Freedom (a documentary)

To celebrate International Women’s Day, Hiwa Foundation was proud to host the premiere of the documentary, ‘Nazira Haris, Towards a Life of Freedom.’ The film explores the extraordinary life of a young woman who joined the Kurdish liberation movement in 1980’s Iraq. The evening was preceded by a special performance from an all female choir, arranged by the Department of Music at the College of Art and conducted by Ms. Kumiko Okumura.
